A Man Called Otto (2022)
Watch A Man Called Otto Full Movie Online
When a lively young family moves in next door, grumpy widower Otto Anderson meets his match in a quick-witted, pregnant woman named Marisol, leading to an unlikely friendship that turns his world upside down.
The only reason I thought this was better than the Swedish version was the Mexican woman. She was so good as the big heart at the centre of the movie.
Obviously, Hanks’s character is the real heart, inside a grumpy, heartbroken man. But she was much better than the Swedish version of the neighbour.
Being a single older man, I related to a lot in this story. But I think the comedy, which was the greatest asset in the Swedish version, shined even more in the American version becaus of the cast. Hanks was really let his pain come through.
Suicide shouldn’t be so funny but it was in both movies, whilst at the same time heartwarming. This is a real achievment for cinema and everyone should see this or the Swedish version of movie.
Yet again, another superb pieceof cinema that didn’t get the plaudits like other lesser films. Hanks is flawless as usual. He really brings something special to a movie, and age hasn’t diminished that.
For thesupporting cast and lead performance, together with the great script, this gets a 10 from me.

I don’t often feel compelled to write reviews on new movies as often few and far between are worth talking about. However, I found this film to be particularly moving. The story itself is nothing groundbreaking but the characters and performances bring the film to life. The film is emotionally impactful and has strong messages about grief and moving on. The film is strongly led by Hanks but I found the standout performance was from Mariana Treviño as Marisol. Every scene with her character was genuinely captivating and superb.
I’ve seen multiple Oscar nominees from this year and last and for me personally, none of them impacted me emotionally as much as this film did. I can’t recommend this film highly enough.
