No Exit (2022)

Stranded at a rest stop in the mountains during a blizzard, a recovering addict discovers a kidnapped child hidden in a car belonging to one of the people inside the building which sets her on a terrifying struggle to identify who among them is the kidnapper.

Review:

Thriller without too many thrills, and definitely no frills. It is NOT a mystery – the film is fairly straight-forward with “whodunnit” right away. Sadly, there is not much depth there. Character development/interactions are thrown to the wayside as the film rushes to conclude itself. It is not deep in any capacity. It is not a film that will make you think, unfortunately.

Dennis Haysbert is the spotlight in every scene he is in, with his talents clearly wasted here. This movie feels very quickly thrown together. I am giving it a 4 because it wasn’t necessarily BAD…. I originally was going to give it a 5 but realized that since I am left disappointed and feeling like I wasted my time, I have to give it a below-average score. To be honest, a 4 is still likely generous. I really wanted this to be better.

No Exit is not one of those thrillers that kept me on the edge of my seat but on the edge to something called sleep. The production and acting are somewhat okay, the story so so, the dialogues sometimes hollow and boring to the bone, the simple truth is, there are too many movies around that simply got more suspense and entertainment in their veins. If I compare No Exit for example with Identity (Liotta, Cusack) the latter one got not only the more twisted and thrilling story but also the cast is way better. Not recommended.

Started out okay but after 30 minutes everything went down the rabbit hole. Nothing about this low budget movie made sense, it’s as if some film students made up a script while they were Filming!

I’m a sucker for a horror/thriller with a strong female lead. You’re Next, Ready or Not, Hush, Crawl, etc. I’m not entirely convinced I’ll add this one to the list of greats, however if you liked those film you should watch this. There were no bad performances, but shout out to Havana Rose Liu. She kept me captivated the whole way through.
